Fri. 6th October: |
James Carty v. Rex Bendon and Dawn
Aldred - Small Claim for damage to plants |
Since James wasn’t successfully killed
or put into hospital in the week leading up to the hearing, the defendants had
no choice but to ask for an adjournment themselves.
Apparently, Mr. Bendon was suffering
from a very rare condition - “tonsilitus following a back problem”. We couldn’t really argue with the sick
note, since it came from a doctor – but we were intrigued to notice the cryptic
message with which it had been annotated –
|
“Lawrence. Is this good enough? Rex.” |
The hearing has been adjourned until the
12th December. In the
meantime, we asked the judge again for directions, and the defendants have been
given another month to get some evidence together. Elizabeth Arnold, Senior Solicitor for the London
Borough of Camden, has given up, and Camden are now spending our council tax on
a barrister - talk about a sledgehammer to crack a nut. (Not only that, but even with a
barrister they failed to achieve the one direction they wanted - to replace
“Rex Bendon and Dawn Aldred” with “The London Borough of Camden”). By now, they must have spent a lot more
on this case than it would have cost to pay for the damage and apologise.
